The difference between Western and Eastern education


People tend to think that there are various differences between the eastern and western education and that the western education is much better than the eastern. But what makes these differences? And what makes the western education better? Well, that’s what we’re going to discuss below.

Firstly, the way students learn differs from East to West. For instance, eastern education is mainly based on textbooks in addition to the old way of dictating the courses to students. They focus on classics and exams. Teachers often have to rush through the textbooks to meet the deadline of each examination. Therefore, students learn from memorizing without understanding the courses given. And the lack of understanding results in the need for cram-schools.
If we take a look at the western way we may find it totally different: students are often given assignments in the format of a report or project. And they have to do their own researches. Presentations are also expected to be given with a clear voice and good information. The skill of taking notes directly from the teacher’s lecture replaces textbooks.
